Our heritage-breed pigs live happy, stress-free lives on pasture, where they root and play, wallow in the mud, and live as pigs are intended to live. Their natural foraging is supplemented only with chemical-free produce from our gardens and GMO-free feed. A recent study has shown that pigs fed GMOs are less healthy than those that aren’t. Unlike the factory-farm pigs that are the source of grocery store pork, our pigs are never given any antibiotics or growth hormones.
A recent study by Consumer Reports found 80% of supermarket pork to be contaminated with antibiotic resistant bacteria, created by the overuse of antibiotics on factory farms. Twenty percent of the pork tested had residues of the pork growth hormone rapactomine. Obviously human beings ought not be eating pork growth hormones and antibiotic resistant bacteria!
Supermarket pork comes from animals raised in cages in confined animal feed operations. The pigs in those facilities are fattened on GMO grains, are fed antibiotics and hormones to stimulate growth, and never get to live as pigs were intended to live. Getting your pork from natural farms such as ours enables you to avoid being complicit in the cruelty of these factory farms.
